The 1987 O'Day 40 is a spacious cruising sailboat designed to offer a comfortable balance of sailing performance, practical accommodations, and ease of handling.

Designed by Philippe Briand, the O'Day 40 features a generous 12'7" beam, a bright and open interior, and a practical two-cabin, two-head layout.

Below deck, the main salon offers comfortable seating on both port and starboard sides, excellent natural light through five overhead hatches and ten opening ports, and a functional U-shaped galley with ample counter space and storage.

Powered by a 46 HP Westerbeke diesel engine, Calypso features a practical sail-handling arrangement with a roller furling genoa, Dutchman mainsail flaking system, hydraulic backstay, and cockpit-led sail controls. Both the mainsail and genoa were replaced in 2010.

Additional equipment includes Garmin navigation electronics, Furuno radar, a working autopilot, two 250W solar panels, four AGM batteries, a dodger and bimini, and cockpit cushions.
